Kim has been an active member of LaPine Chapter, International Association of Administrative Professionals since April, 1994 and has earned the CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) and CAP (Certified Administrative Professional) designations. She has served on and chaired several committees at chapter and division levels throughout the years and has held several chapter offices including Board Member-at-Large, Secretary, Vice President, and President.  In 2002, she was instrumental in developing the first IAAP student chapter sponsored by LaPine Chapter at the Louisiana Technical College – Alexandria Campus and has continued since that time to serve as the student chapter liaison and serves as a member of the advisory council for the Alexandria Campus. In addition, the development of a new student chapter of IAAP at the LTC – Oakdale Campus is underway.

Kim joined Toastmasters International in 2003. Kim has achieved the highest educational and leadership designation presented by Toastmasters – Distinguished Toastmaster. To complete this achievement, Kim has presented well over 40 speeches or presentations and has fulfilled all the leadership requirements including conducting educational sessions, helping start new Toastmasters clubs and coaching or mentoring new members. She is a member of three Toastmasters clubs and most recently served as the Lt. Governor Marketing for District 68 Toastmasters (a total of 55 clubs in Louisiana with the exception of Shreveport, as well as caveats from East Texas and West Mississippi). She was elected to the role of District Governor for the 2011-2012 term.

Kim has provided customer service and time management training for her employer through the “Cleco University” and has presented at various venues on topics such as officer training, mentorship, and leadership. She has also provided motivational and keynote presentations such as “Point of Light” and “Your Ticket to the Future.”

In September 2004, Kim married the love of her life, Tony Boyd and they are the proud parents of one daughter and one son…of the four-legged, hairy variety…precious Yorkshire Terriers named Belle and Harley. She also enjoys her role as worship leader and keyboardist for the Family of Grace Praise & Worship Team, as well as making interesting wall art utilizing different styles, textures, shapes and colors of crosses.
